Book Cover Art – Mastiff V – Video II
The video above did not turn out the way I wanted it to. The compression is way too aggressive and it means that there’s a great loss in detail and
colors. Right now I’m not sure if it’s the software I’m using or if it’s YouTube…or probably both.
In any case, there’s a picture of this Mastiff puppy in this post also, which is where I’m at right now. It looks a bit flat at the moment since there’s not really any highlights and shadows done, but it’s in the right direction.
Yesterday I lost my brush set-up for some silly reason and now I can’t find it again, so I’ve had to spend some time trying to find my way back to what I used before. Takes a while to become comfortable with a brush setup.
Since I’m working with rather dark shades in this painting you will have to click the image to see a larger copy for details.
Next thing to do would be finishing up the base for the chest. His right side just above the right front leg need some fur.
He also needs a pair of paws in the front.
Then it’s his back end left with the tail and the back leg.
I will also adjust the differences in the dark and light areas in his face before I’m done.
After that it’s time to start the background
