The making of The Pixie Hunt
The Pixie Hunt was from the beginning meant to be a regular old fashion still life. But it turned into something completely different in the end. This happens a lot when I’m free to paint whatever I want. What’s on my mind when I start a painting sometimes changes during the course of the process.
The pixie and the rats entered the scene fairly late in this process and I could have left them out of the picture if I wanted to. But by the time the pumpkins were almost ready, it needed something more. Some action, if you want. And that’s how the pixie and the rats were born.
I’ve had comments about those rats like: “If I weren’t afraid of rats before, I am now. Those rodents are hideous.”, and I guess they ARE hideous really. But that was the idea. I wanted something that took the sweet and pretty edge off that pixie and all the bright colors a bit. Art is often about provoking and you can do so in a lot of different ways.
This painting can be bought in the print store in 2 different sizes.
